Due to growth our client is looking to recruit a Functional Safety Engineer for their team in Edinburgh.  Although the Edinburgh team is small you will be part of a large organisation.  The main purpose of this role is to provide detailed functional safety input into the specification, design, and development of safety related products.
 
To be considered, you will need the following experience/skills:
  • Considerable experience in the development of electronic hardware designs.
  • Experience with liaising with certified bodies such as TUV and IFA from safety concept through to final assessment to achieve functional safety certification.
  • Experience in developing and executing test plans and Verification and Validation plans.
  • Experience in assembling system and component level FMEA.
  • Experience in developing and validating SIL calculations such as MTTF, risk assessment, SFF, systematic capability.
  • Experience of the safety lifecycle and requirements tracking.
  • Working knowledge of key international functional safety standards, including IEC61508, IEC62061, EN ISO 13849.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61496 is desirable.
  • Competent understanding of all aspects of electronic design, e.g. analogue, digital, power.
